Katrina Haney Personal Profile

Hello and thank you for visiting. My name is Katrina Haney. I am a digital art designer specializing in graphics for the creation of scrapbooks, and a freelance writer on a variety of topics. I am also a family historian and genealogist.

My current personal focus on my own family history is in sixteenth century New England. I have a number of ancestors who arrived there during the Pilgrim Era. As I do my studies I will post both my genealogy research findings, and interesting stories here, as well as contextual material relevant to my researches at the time. As time permits I will also add information I have already gathered in the past.

Recently I have begun writing articles for a number of online article archives, mostly on the subjects that are of particular interest to me, but other topics also that may not fit into this exact niche. But I will be posting them here as well, either in full or as links to the archive site where they are posted. Some places require that they be the only publishers of certain articles. You all can help me out by visiting these sites and rating or recommending my articles.

For those of you interested in personal details, I am a retired programmer, with a background in psychology and philosophy. How’s that for a mix. I live in Central Florida, and my daughter and three of her children live with me, along with a whole passel of cats and a pet python.

I have two daughters, who have grown into terrific women, and who have given me seven wonderful grandchildren, plus two great granddaughters. Another one is on the way, Expected in October.

In 2002 I was diagnosed with diabetes and asthma, which was so severe they at first thought it was emphysema. These conditions kept me fairly inactive and pretty much forced my retirement from programming. I filled the void by building web sites and doing graphics work, which led to my opening a web site for digital scrapbooking. This worked fairly well for me until the bottom fell out of the economy.

Two years ago, in March of 2007, I lost my loving husband of seven years to pneumonia, which was not able to be gotten under control because his lungs were too damaged from years of smoking. Please people, if you smoke, do what you have to to quit. Watching my husband struggle in pain and discomfort for two months before he died was horrible.

The scrapbook site was already beginning to decline at the time, and between that and a few other things going on I went into a bit of a depression. It took me a while to figure out how to live without my husband, as life as I knew it was suddenly gone. I delved into my family history, played some online games, and just hibernated for a while, trying to rediscover myself.

When I emerged from hibernation, I discovered that I indeed still had a passion for life, and a number of interests that keep me so busy I don’t have enough time to do all I want. I am blessed to have a loving family, and to have them here with me to enjoy every day.

I began this web site to be a place where I can share all my passions with others who have the same interests. Please subscribe to it so you get all the latest posts as I put them up. I do hope you enjoy your stay here, and feel free to write comments about anything I post. I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for stopping by,
Kat
